Herbert makes strong run, takes provisional No. 2 position

Houston, Friday: Doug Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel team made a strong statement on the first day of qualifying for the NHRA Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.

Herbert piloted the 8,000 horsepower dragster down the quarter-mile with a quick 4.54 second pass at 318.02 mph. This strong pass during the second session planted Herbert solidly in the No. 2 position.

“The car ran really good,” said Herbert. “I’m really proud of everybody. It really came around after the first pass.

“Everyone has two more chances during tomorrow’s qualifying sessions, and the weather will be more like race day. We will use tomorrow to learn what to put into the SnaponFranchise.com car to get ready for race day.”
