Justin Humphreys RaceRedi Motorsports Pontiac GXP

Las Vegas, Saturday:  Justin Humphreys says his Pontiac GXP didn't run quick enough off the starting line Saturday to put him into the top half of the 16-car field for Sunday's SummitRacing.com Nationals, but he is happy nonetheless because he did post the 11th-quickest elapsed time, 6.746 seconds at 204.14 mph. It earned him a spot opposite Warren Johnson in the first round of eliminations.

"Once we figure out how to improve our times down low (in the early part of the run) we will do better," said Humphreys.  "That has been biting us.  We blow the tires off and the tires shake.

"We want to do better and go rounds on Sunday.  We'd also like to run 60-foot times like the rest of the guys are."

Johnson is No. 6 at 6.728 at 206.07 mph.
