Rebounding Todd headed in right direction

Las Vegas, Saturday: J.R. Todd and his Torco/Lucas Oil Top Fuel team is rebounding from a below par start to his 2008 NHRA POWERade Top Fuel season by qualifying in the No. 12 slot in the competitive lineup with an elapsed time of 4.775 seconds, 286.01 mph for Sunday’s running of the Summitracing.com Nationals on the Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

In Todd’s first round of eliminations, he will race Cory McClenathan where he holds a 2-1 lead over him in their three rounds of racing.  The last time the pair met in NHRA National event competition was the first round of the 2007 Richmond event back in October.

“It’s coming around slowly,” said Todd, anticipating a busy race day.  “I’m getting anxious with this last minute, nail-biting last chance qualifying runs we’ve had lately on Saturday.  As long as you are in on Sunday that’s what it’s all about.  We’ve been struggling and the track isn’t in the best shape either, but that’s the cards we’re dealt.  We’ll roll the dice in Vegas and see what happens in hope of going four rounds on Sunday.”
