Todd is race-ready

Bristol, Saturday: J.R. Todd, driver of the Lucas Oil Octane Booster Top Fuel dragster, will head into Sunday’s O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at the beautiful Bristol Dragway from the No. 8 starting position racing Rod Fuller in the first round of eliminations. “

We’re the first pair and that way you can’t go out there and second guess yourself,” said race-ready, Todd. “You’re the guinea pig for the day, but overall this weekend has been very good to us. We’ve made three solid runs this weekend and things are definitely coming around for us. This new car for us is finally getting broken in. The crew is getting a handle on the tune up and although we’re taking baby steps now it’s time to go some rounds.”

The last time the pair met in NHRA National event competition was earlier this year in the Phoenix first round, where unfortunately, Todd lost that round to his opponent. In head-to-head matchups, this will be the sixth time they have raced each other with Fuller holding the edge over Todd’s record of 1-4 against him.

Todd qualified with an elapsed time of 4.584 seconds, 327.90 mph in Friday night’s qualifying.
