Electronic gremlins end Pippin's qualifying streak
The DNQ ended Pippin's consecutive qualifying efforts at five, dating back to his initial NHRA POWERade entry at last year's season finale in Qualifying runs of 8.421 seconds at 151.04 miles per hour, 7.496 seconds at 171.42, 7.293 seconds at 174.12 mph and 8.963 seconds at 96.38 mph could not get the Conyers, "I hate it when things like this happen, but that's the way it is," he said. "We'll be back in Englishtown (N. J., June 19-22 for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals) with both barrels loaded. "We will test in between and figure it out." Despite the disappointment, Pippin remains positive about drag racing and life. "Every day is a good day," said Pippin. "Every chance I get to drag race is another blessing. Had it not been for drag racing, I would've never seen the country. I'd be at home, driving a dump truck"
