Chicago, Saturday: The opening round of eliminations for the Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 NHRA Nationals will mark an historic moment for Doug Herbert, owner and driver of the SnaponFranchise.com Top Fuel dragster: he will pilot his 8,000 horsepower machine in his 500^th career NHRA elimination round.

“It’s hard to believe this is my 500^th NHRA elimination round,” said Herbert. “It feels like just yesterday I entered my first NHRA race. I know one thing for sure, it would be great to add another three to that total and take home the win tomorrow.”

After four rounds of qualifying action, Herbert and the SnaponFranchise.com team qualified in the No. 13 position. The best pass of the weekend came during Saturday’s opening round, with the dragster sailing through the lights in 4.62 seconds at 318.62 mph.

“The car has been running pretty good this weekend. We are ready to step it up a notch and win some races, and I think we have things on the right track.

“We have a huge crowd cheering for us this weekend,” said Herbert. “Over a thousand Snap-on employees and customers will be our guests tomorrow, and we really want to put on a good show for them. It would be fun to see how many of them we can get in the winner’s circle pictures.”

Herbert will face J.R. Todd in the opening round of eliminations.
