Fuller races to No. 7 position
Sonoma, Saturday: Hot Rod Fuller powered his David Powers-owned Caterpillar dragster, which has backing from local Caterpillar dealer Peterson Holding Co., to the No. 7 qualifying position Saturday afternoon at Infineon Raceway. The seven-time Top Fuel winner used a run of 3.860-seconds to finish seventh in the 16-car order. Fuller posted his best run of the weekend in the Peterson Cat dragster on Friday evening under the lights at the multi-purpose racing facility when he used a tune-up from crew chief Rob Flynn to blast the Caterpillar car to a run of 3.860 seconds at 311.20 mph. The “We’re happy with that final run,” Fuller said. “We ran right with the best cars in the class and that’s a good sign. Rob (Flynn) has a good handle on things and we’re excited about race day and to go rounds for the Peterson folks.” Fuller will match-up against No. 10 qualifier Morgan Lucas in the first round of Top Fuel eliminations at 11 a.m. (PT) on Sunday at Infineon Raceway. Fuller is 3-1 against Lucas this season.
