Tasca still seeking spot
“I think we just might be trying a little bit too hard,” said Tasca. “It’s so tough out here, and Chris [Cunningham, crew chief] has got the worst job in the world to make the last minute changes required to put yourself at the top of the pack. Unfortunately, today and yesterday, we just had more than what the racetrack would hold.” With 22 Funny Cars entered into this weekend’s event, the driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang will be one of 10 drivers competing for the open four qualifying spots still up for grabs for the race. “We’ll go into tomorrow with a lot of good data from over this summer,” said Tasca. “We’ve had a very consistent car on a hot race track, so I’m really confident that we’ll get in tomorrow. A lot of big names smoked the tires tonight, but we’ll just get up tomorrow and do our job and get ourselves into the race.”
