Dave Connolly Industrial Distribution Group Chevrolet Cobalt

Charlotte, Sunday:  It took Dave Connolly and crew chief Tommy Utt about as much time to dissect their disappointing opening-round loss Sunday in the Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway as it did for Connolly and the Charter Communications/Lucas Oil Chevy Cobalt to travel the 1320 feet.

It took Anderson 6.731 seconds (206.29 mph) to turn on the win light with Connolly close behind at 6.749, 206.57 mph. 

"We didn't make a good enough run. That's just the way it is," said Utt. 

"I didn't do a very good job -- I had a bad start and we made a bad run and you can't expect to win with that," said Connolly, who began the day sixth in Countdown to 1.  "I'm disappointed that I didn't do my job."

Anderson had a .043-second reaction to Connolly's .047.

The setback dropped Connolly to seventh place in the playoffs with 2,052 points with five races remaining.
