Stoffer hoping Vegas trick is a treat
Las Vegas, pre-race: Karen Stoffer, rider of the Geico-backed Pro Stock Suzuki is aiming for a breakout performance at this Halloween weekend's NHRA Las Vegas Nationals. Over the years Stoffer has had her share of hard luck in Vegas. Most notably in 2005 when Stoffer suffered a near career ending injury when she was struck by the massive back door of her team's transporter and driven into the ground.
"Vegas has been notoriously plagued with freakish issues for us and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because it's around Halloween," Stoffer said. "This year I'm looking to pull a trick out of my hat for this one. We're hoping for a ghoulish good time."
Stoffer enters this race ranked No. 10 in the Championship Countdown and is eager to put three consecutive first round losses behind her.
"We are very optimistic and positive," Stoffer said. "I'm bummed that we didn't get off to the start we were hoping for in the Countdown, but that's the nature of this class. It's very competitive."
The Las Vegas Nationals marks the second to last race for the Pro Stock Motorcycle class in 2008.
"We are looking forward to finishing strong," Stoffer said. "We have put in a lot of hard work and the motorcycle has showed a lot of promise. I'm excited."
