Bob Gilbertson Tradicion Azul Monte Carlo Funny Car

Englishtown, Friday: After running a 4.968 - 291.45 in his first qualifying attempt for the K&N Filters NHRA SuperNationals, Bob Gilbertson drove his Autolite XP Spark Plugs/Prestone Antifreeze Monte Carlo to a 4.854 second elapsed time at 319.37 mph to claim the 12th qualifying spot during the second round of qualifying.  Gilbertson will have two more chances to improve his position on Saturday for Sunday's final eliminations.

"Things are looking up," Gilbertson said.  "For the first time in a long time we've been able to go down the track under full power during qualifying and this gives us a baseline to improve on our tune-up for first round on Sunday.  We have to go some rounds to climb our way back into the top 10 points standings and I'm confident that we're going in the right direction."
