Brown captures first win of the year

Englishtown, Sunday: U.S. Army Pro Stock Motorcycle driver Antron Brown swiped his first victory of the year here Sunday in the K&N Filters SuperNationals at Raceway Park.

Brown, who started from the pole position, took out Karen Stoffer in the finals with a 7.169-second pass at 184.55 mph. It was his 14th career win and the second at his home track.

"This is such a great feeling," said the New Jersey native. "To win here at Englishtown - my backyard - in front of so many friends and family and on Father's Day is just unbelievable."

With his initial win of the 2005 campaign, Brown rose from 10th in the Pro Stock Motorcycle standings to third and is now 62 points out of the lead.

"We're getting better and better," he added. "This is an extremely competitive class from top to bottom. I truly believe Angelle and I will be right in the thick of the championship chase from this point forward."
