Enders happy with her effort

Denver, Sunday:  Despite losing in the first round to eventual event winner Warren Johnson, Rookie Pro Stock driver Erica Enders is pleased with her effort in Denver. The Slammers team almost pulled off the upset of the day when Enders beat Johnson off the starting line with a stellar .015 reaction time to Johnson's .042 light.

"I didn't see Warren in my peripheral vision until third-gear, so I was excited that I left on him. Then towards the higher gears I could see him coming around but I just concentrated on hitting my shift points. After I put it in fifth-gear I was eyeballing his car to see where he was at. I was like, come on car, come on, but he had the horsepower to pass me at the top-end."

The race ended with Johnson beating Enders with a 7.151 at 193.07 mph, to Enders 7.248 at 191.65 mph.

This was the fourth time this year that Enders has qualified for a National Event, she feels like her new sponsor could be a blessing for the team.

"We know we are going to have people like Johnson and Anderson until we can qualify better in the field. Our guys are building more horsepower all the time, and Slammers coming on board has given everyone even more incentive to do well. I think this may be the beginning of a new chapter for the team."

This is the first of three back-to-back races for Enders and her Slammers Ultimate Milk Chevy Cobalt. With a good start here in Denver, it should be a good "Western Swing" for the Slammers team.
