Gilbertson disappointed with results

Denver, Sunday:  Bob Gilbertson's first round match-up with Whit Bazemore didn't turn out the way he would have liked it to.  Gilbertson knew that he'd have to win some rounds in order to improve his points position and after breaking two engines during qualifying he smoked the tires and watched Bazemore go on for the victory.  Gilbertson dropped one spot to 14th in the NHRA POWERade points standings.

"We had an expensive weekend," Gilbertson said.  "We lost two engines and not going any rounds really hurt us in both the wallet and in the points.  What can I say, we've now got to put Denver behind us and move on to Seattle and hopefully get back in the swing of things."

"We went to the starting line with what we thought would go down the track," Gilbertson's co-crew chief Nick Boninfante added.  "The conditions were tough out there, some teams figured out a tune-up that worked in the high altitude and hot weather and some didn't including us.  Parts breakage also bit us, losing two engines puts us behind the eight ball but all we can do is re-group and go on to Seattle and hopefully get our act together."
