Pedregon grabs 15th slot
Indianapolis, Sunday: Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro Funny Car grabbed the 15th position for tomorrow’s running of the 51st annual U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Pedregon, the 2003 POWERade Funny Car World Champion, drove his way to a 4.837-second elapsed time at 321.88 mph, qualifying inside the quickest Funny Car field in NHRA history.
“We had a good run on our last pass,” said Pedregon, who will face off against Robert Hight in round one tomorrow. “We were able to get some critical data on the new car and chassis. These guys have done a great job coming together as a team and I think we have a real opportunity to go rounds tomorrow.”
Pedregon fell to Del Worsham in the first round of today’s Skoal Showdown. Pedregon’s Q Racing entry slipped out of the groove, losing traction and eventually the race. Worsham clicked off a 4.875-second elapsed time ay 314.31 mph.
