Koretsky escapes serious injury in spectacular crash

Dallas, Friday: Pro Stock driver/owner Kenny Koretsky escaped serious injury in a spectacular qualifying accident with Bruce Allen Friday at the Texas Motorplex, near Dallas.

Koretsky’s Nitro Fish Wear Dodge Stratus was demolished when the car of Bruce Allen went out of control, flipped on its side and slid into Koretsky’s lane. Both drivers were airlifted to Parkland Medical Center in Dallas as a precautionary measure.

Allen’s car was up on the passenger side when Koretsky’s Dodge came in contact with the undercarriage of Allen’s car, resulting in a fiery explosion.  The impact knocked the engine in Allen’s car out of the chassis and sent it sliding down the track.

Eddie Guarnaccia, his longtime friend and the team’s crew chief, spoke to Koretsky at the hospital. “He said they were going to keep him overnight,” Guarnaccia reported. “He was complaining of soreness in his right wrist, hand and arm.”

Koretsky, of Richboro, Pa., got out of the car under his own power.
