INSTALLING QUICKTIME ON WINDOWS
We recommend printing these instructions for easy reference during the setup process. You can download QuickTime 4.0 at http://www.apple.com/quicktime.Step 1. Download the installer to your C drive. Click here to download. Step 2. On Apple's QuickTime download page, the first section says "Download software now." Under this section select "Windows 95/98/NT" and enter your email address. Click "Download Now." Step 3. A security message may appear. If it does, click "Continue." Step 4. A dialog box may appear asking you what you want to so with the file. Select "Save this program to disk" and click "OK." Step 5. Another dialog box called "Save As" appears and you should choose your 'C' drive in the pull-down menu labeled "Save in:." Click "Save." Step 6. When the download is complete, another dialog box may or may not appear that says "Download Complete." Click "OK." Step 7. Click the Start bar and when it pops up, select "Run..." Step 8. Click "Browse." A dialog box appears and you should Select your 'C' drive from the pull-down menu labeled "Look in:." When you have the 'C' drive selected you should see a file called "QuickTimeInstaller" or "QuickTimeInstaller.exe." click this file ONCE and click "Open." Step 9. Click "OK." Step 10. The "QuickTime 4 Setup" screen appears and you should click "Next." Step 11. Click "Next" again. Step 12. Read the Software License and click "Agree." Step 13. The next message asks you to select the location where you would like QuickTime installed on your computer. We recommend using the default location, which means you do not have to do anything besides clicking "Next." Step 14. The next message lets you select your installation type. Select "Deluxe Playback" and click "Next." Step 15. The next message allows you to name the "programs" folder. Leave this at the default setting, which is "QuickTime," and click "Next." Step 16. The next message allows you to select which browsers will be configured to play QuickTime. The installer will automatically find the browsers on your system and select them. You should not change this. Click "Next." Step 17. The next message allows you to select your Connection Speed. Select the Connection Speed that best suits your equipment, and click "continue." NOTE: Do not check the box that says "Allow Multiple Simultaneous Streams." Check the documentation that came with your computer or your Network System Administrator if you aren't sure. If you choose incorrectly, you can change this at any time by opening the QuickTime Settings control panel and selecting "Connection Speed" from the pull-down menu. Step 18. The next message allows you to enter your registration information if you purchased QuickTime Pro. Enter your information if you bought it, or don't enter anything if you didn't, and click "Next." Step 19. The next message is for those users behind a corporate firewall. There is a checkbox that says "Use HTTP Proxy" which you should not check unless you are absolutely sure you are behind a firewall. If you are connecting to the internet from home, you will leave this box unchecked and click "Continue." If you are connecting from work, check with you System Administrator to see if you will need to use this feature. Step 20. QuickTime 4 Setup will then download the necessary files to complete the installation. You will need to be connected to the internet for this to work. When the installer is finished downloading the files it needs, it will install them automatically. When it's finished, it will ask you if you want to view the README file and/or view the Sample Movie. You can view these files if you like, but it is not necessary. Select which of the two files you would like to view and click "Close." Step 21. The installation is now complete. You should quit any browsers you may have running so that the next time you use them they will be ready to play QuickTime Movies. You are now ready to watch NHRA Online race highlight footage with QuickTime.
INSTALLING QUICKTIME ON MACINTOSH Step 1. Download the installer to your desktop. Click here to download. Step 2. Double-click the QuickTime Installer application. Step 3. Click "continue." Step 4. Read the Software License and click "agree." Step 5. Select the Internet Connection Speed that best suits your equipment, and click "continue." NOTE: Check the documentation that came with your computer or your Network System Administrator if you aren't sure. If you choose incorrectly, you can change this at any time by opening the QuickTime Settings control panel and selecting "Connection Speed" from the pull-down menu. Step 6. Select "Deluxe Playback" and click "continue." Step 7. A final message will appear telling you that the installer will download the necessary files and install them for you. You must be connected to the Internet for this to work. Step 8. Click "continue." Step 9. The QuickTime 4 Installer will automatically download the appropriate files for your computer. Step 10. If you have any programs running, the installer will ask you if it can quit your browsers. Click "OK." Step 11. The installer will install the appropriate files on your computer and then it will ask you to "Restart" your computer. Click "Restart." Your computer will restart and you will then be ready to watch NHRA Online race highlight footage with QuickTime.
