Sunday Results:Rose blooms with new team for first win; Manzo strikes again in Federal-Mogul FC MOHNTON, PA -- In just his second race after joining the Fox Brothers Racing Team of Ed and Tom Fox, John Rose Jr. took home the win in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the Coca-Cola Nationals from Maple Grove Raceway. The car slowed to a 5.814 elapsed time in the semifinals, but crew chief Tom Fox made the right changes and Rose out ran Doug Kelly with a 5.666 second 244.43-mph pass in the finals of Federal-Mogul Dragster. We felt real confident, we made a change in the fuel system for the semis. It didnt work, we changed it back and the car ran and felt great, remarked Rose after the win. Maple Grove has been good to Fox Brothers Racing, as the car also won the Pioneer Electronics Keystone Nationals last September with then driver Ned Ott. The track's real nice was all Federal-Mogul Funny Car Champion Frank Manzo had to say as he went straight to the winners circle from his number one qualifying position. Manzo took out Scott Weney from Spring City, Pa., with a 5.773-second 246.37-mph run to Weneys 5.929 seconds at 234.25 mph. Manzo faced Weney in the final after a holeshot victory in the semifinals beating a quicker Paul Gill. In the Super Comp category, Michael Sullivan purchased a brand new car from Scotty Richardson and the TAS Racing Team, made his first runs with the 98 Undercover dragster on Friday and put it in the winners circle in the cars inaugural race. Isnt he something? Michael said of Scotty Richardson during the winners circle ceremony. TAS (Tamasi and Son) Racing hasnt faired too well here at Maple Grove dispite living in nearby Downingtown, Pa., and generally advancing to the late rounds of competition and frequent trips to the winners circle.
