ORLANDO, Fla. -- Heavy rain forced the postponement of today’s final eliminations at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
The southeast division NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing series event is rescheduled for tomorrow. Gates will open at 9 a.m., eliminations will begin at 10 a.m. The second round in dragster and funny car is scheduled for 11 a.m.

ORLANDO SPEED WORLD RESULTS
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Doug Kelley, Palm City, Fla., secured the number one qualifying position in the dragster category at Orlando Speed World Dragway. The second of six southeast division events in the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series.
Kelley ran a 5.767 second elapsed time at 237.78 mph moving ahead of defending event champion Michael Gunderson of Middleburg, Fla. "I short-shifted the car and it moved towards the guard rail, I corrected and the car shut itself off just before the finish line," Kelley said. "There's a record in the car if it makes it all."
Current division points leader and defending event champion, Tony Bartone of Manhasset, N.Y., leads the funny car division setting a track record 5.708/249.37.
Other leaders include Larry Pritchett, Clarkrange, Tenn., in competition eliminator, Joe Skinner, Columbia Station, Ohio, super stock and Judy McCormack, Milford, Mich. in the stock category.
Gates open at 8 a.m. Final eliminations begin at 9 a.m. First round of Federal-Mogul dragster and funny car are scheduled for noon.

McCornack and Bartone led opening day qualifying
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Bill McCornack and Tony Bartone led opening day qualifying at Orlando Speed World Dragway at the second of six events in the $750,000 NHRA southeast division Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series.
Bartone, Manhasset, N.Y., took the top seed and reset the track elapsed time and speed records in Federal-Mogul funny car running 5.756 seconds at 246.03 mph. "I didn't expect the car to run that fast, it was set up to run in the mid-80s," Bartone said. "It may have something to do with the new track surface, it's really hooking."
McCornack, Lexington, Ky., used a 5.847/231 effort to claim the top spot in Federal-Mogul dragster. Defending champion Michael Gunderson, Middleburg, Fla., is currently ranked number two.
Other leaders include Larry Pritchett, Clarkrange, Tenn. in Competition Eliminator, Al Provoast, Whittemore, Mich., in Stock Eliminator and Joe Skinner, Columbia Station, Ohio in Super Stock.
Qualifying continues tomorrow at 9 a.m. Funny car and dragster qualifying rounds are scheduled for 4 and 7 p.m. Gates open at 8 a.m.
