Mission hosts first of two FMDRS events

Mission Raceway Park will host the Lordco Auto Parts BC Nationals, a round of the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series, May 4-6, 2001. The event is the second of six in the NHRA's Northwest Division and will feature more than 400 cars, including 250-mph Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Federal-Mogul Funny Cars. It is also the first of two events to be held at Mission Raceway Park with the second one scheduled for June 22-24.
Drivers in eight categories - Federal-Mogul (FM) Dragster, Federal-Mogul (FM) Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street - will compete for points leading to national and divisional championships. They will also run for a share of the $138,935 event purse.
Gates at Mission Raceway Park open at 7 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Federal-Mogul Dragsters and Federal-Mogul Funny Cars are scheduled to make one qualifying run on Friday, beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, the two classes will make two passes each beginning at noon and 4 p.m. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, with Dragster and Funny Car eliminations starting at noon.
General admission is $10 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Pit passes are free on Friday and $5 Saturday and $5 Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Categories include: Federal-Mogul Dragster, Federal-Mogul Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The event is the second of six in Northwest Division competition.
WHERE: Mission Raceway Park, Mission, B.C. Track is located 10 miles north of Sumas, Washington, on Highway 11
WHEN: Friday through Sunday, May 4-6, 2001.
SCHEDULE: Time trials and qualifying schedule for the Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series:
FRIDAY, May 4 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying and time trials begin at 8:30 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster qualifying session is scheduled at 3 p.m. and Federal-Mogul Funny Car qualifying session is scheduled at 4 p.m.
SATURDAY, May 5 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Final qualifying and time trials are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Federal-Mogul Dragster qualifying sessions are scheduled at noon and 4 p.m. and Federal-Mogul Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
SUNDAY, May 6 -- Gates open at 7 a.m. Eliminations begin at 9 a.m. Eliminations for Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car begin at noon.
PURSE: The NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag Racing Series competitors will compete for cash and contingency awards of $138,935, part of the 43-race, $6.5 million series.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
FEDERAL-MOGUL POINTS FUND -- a $561,000 point fund from Federal-Mogul, which will be shared by 2001 Federal-Mogul divisional champions and Federal-Mogul national champions. Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven Federal-Mogul national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.
SEALED POWER LOW QUALIFIER BONUS -- a $167,500 overall bonus fund from Federal-Mogul's Sealed Power brand to the low qualifiers at each of the 43 Federal-Mogul events and the 24 NHRA national events: $1,000 each in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car; $200 each in Competition and Super Stock; and $100 in Stock.
FEATURES: More than 400 drivers in the eight racing categories. Eight-car fields in Federal-Mogul Dragster and Federal-Mogul Funny Car, featuring five-second, 250 mph side-by-side racing.
