Ed Iskenderian's '24 Model T Roadster
Visitors to the NHRA Motorsports Museum at Fairplex in Pomona can view what is probably the oldest surviving original street rod, Ed Iskenderian's '24 Model T roadster. Built in 1940, the car was powered by a '32 Ford flathead V-8 equipped with a rare Maxi overhead exhaust-valve conversion. Driven daily on the street by Iskenderian, it turned a then-incredible 120 mph at El Mirage before the start of World War II. "Isky's" roadster, featured on the cover of Hot Rod magazine in June 1948, is perhaps one of the most accurate examples of early hot rodding at the museum; it has its original tires and has not been modified in restoration.
